After an amazing Major 2 in Birmingham, we now have a three-week break expected to bring significant changes to the Call of Duty League. Those major changes don't just include roster changes, but seismic modifications to the map pool in size & which maps will be played.

Call of Duty recently announced that they will be testing a variety of new maps in Ranked play over the next week to gather feedback from the community. Those maps & modes include Cliff Town (Yeman) Hardpoint, Gridlock Hardpoint, Sake Hardpoint, Fringe SND, Plaza SND, Toshin SND, Gridlock Overload, and Utopia Overload.

Currently, there is an interest in adding more maps to the professional rotation. The current plan is to add two maps to each mode while removing one. However, some Professional Players have expressed concerns that Blackheart Hardpoint might remain, as the CDL apparently desires "variety" in the map pool so that the same maps aren't consistently played in a series.

Many fans and pros would argue that the frequency with which we see a map doesn't matter as long as it is good, but would allow for the CDL to trim the map pool easily going into Stage IV. Some sources have suggested that Exposure could be removed due to an in-game glitch that affects the map's playability.

As it stands, the rumored direction for the Stage III Map Pool is to be 6 hardpoint maps, 6 Search & Destroy maps, and 4 Overload maps. This would increase the overall map pool from 13 maps to 16.
