Sources: Spacestation Gaming Nearing Takeover of Misfits' CDL Spot

Spacestation Gaming is pursuing a full takeover of the Misfits' CDL spot. Team Heretics has operated the slot under a three-season loan agreement with Misfits, and with that agreement now coming to an end, Misfits are seeking a new organization to take full ownership.

Sources indicate Misfits have accepted an offer from Spacestation Gaming, and a formal agreement has already been signed. The deal is currently under review by Activision for approval.

If the deal falls through, Heretics have been told they would retain the CDL slot as the operating partner, though sources indicate that outcome is unlikely at this stage. Regardless, Heretics have reportedly been advised to explore alternative rosters as a contingency, in case the deal collapses or Activision doesn't approve the transfer.

We've also learned that Spacestation Gaming plans to operate out of either Salt Lake City or Utah, and has already begun reaching out to coaches as it looks to build a roster.

This isn't Spacestation's first attempt at entering the league this way. The organization previously pursued a takeover of the Carolina Royal Ravens' spot but ultimately came up short. Sources indicate this deal is considerably further along than that prior attempt.

Separately, sources tell us Luminosity also expressed interest in the Misfits spot but was turned down, reportedly due to their ties to Surge and recent history with former ownership.
